This is a nice segment of today's "Meet the Press" featuring David Gregory and Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm tag-teaming Dick Armey with a variation on the "we may be incompetent but your candidates are crazy" argument. Their focus here is on Tea Party candidates and the role of government. Naturally Gregory and Granholm drag Paul Ryan's Roadmap through the mire hoping to scare seniors with the old tried and true boogeyman "Republicans will cut your social security." This is particularly rich considering Granholm, after 2 terms as a Democratic Governor, literally ran the state of Michigan into the ground. It is her specific type of government that makes a "roadmap" necessary so there is a social security program left for seniors. Armey handles the Gregory/Granholm tag-team with relative ease and makes a nice defense for Paul Ryan's plan in the process.

Conspiracy - Would that be the Vast Left-Wing or Right-Wing Version?
Politico has a segment of the interview with Bill Clinton from today's Meet the Press that I find pretty revealing:
On a final note, Clinton was not asked how effective the supposed "vast right wing conspiracy" was nor did Gregory seem to be leading him there. Still, Clinton brings up Obama's falling poll numbers. Yes he gives "credit" for this to Republicans but that is nothing more than the party line. He is not particularly convincing on the points that Obama will not face what he faced in 94 either. I can say quite a bit about Clinton but he is a pretty savvy politician. I think he knew exactly what he was doing here in this interview and I don't think he went out of his way to be helpful to Obama.

As you look at this opposition on the right to President Obama, is it still there?”I am not sure Bill is buying the right wing conspiracy nonsense he is peddling here. It wasn't that long ago the vast left wing conspiracy was working its' tail off to paint him as a RAAAAACIST along with the anyone else who dared to oppose Obama. Compare his conviction when he answers David Gregory's question to his conviction when he was discussing Obama The Fairy Tale in the following two clips:
The former president replied: “Oh, you bet. Sure it is. It's not as strong as it was, because America has changed demographically. But it's as virulent as it was. I mean, they're saying things about him. You know, it's like when they accused me of murder, and all that stuff they did. … But … it's not really good for the Republicans and the country, what's going on now. I mean, they may be hurting President Obama. They can take his numbers down. They can run his opposition up. But, fundamentally, he and his team have a positive agenda for America. Their agenda seems to be wanting him to fail."
