There is little coverage of this flood in the news despite the massive damage to homes and public buildings in and around Nashville. The Opryland Hotel experienced flooding of 8 to 10 feet and is closed until further notice.
After experiencing 20 inches of rain in just two days, the levees of the Cumberland River designed to withstand the 100-year flood were breached. With clear weather expected for at least the next week, citizens of Nashville can begin the long process of repairing and rebuilding what was lost in the flood.
